Hello all! With temperatures soaring to 100 degrees this week, the news media has been working hard to spread the word about "how to beat the heat". Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks when working outdoors. Just stay indoors if you can. All of that is great advice. We spend thousands of dollars installing and maintaining air conditioning systems and buying fans and Cool Sheets and such to keep us cool in all situations. It's a multimillion dollar industry that we consider worth every penny we spend on it. Yet, for all our preparations to beat the heat here, we so often neglect to prepare to beat the heat in eternity. It's hard to understand why, when the preparations are free! Jesus paid for our eternal cooling system on the cross over 2000 years ago. He offers it to you and me free of charge. All we have to do is acknowledge the gift, accept it, and thank Him for it! Christ is the way to avoid an eternity in a Hell so hot, 100 degrees is a cold front. A ticket out of a place where the darkness is so complete, you can't tell up from down. A way out of the lake of fire where the worms never die. Neither do you. You can't escape it. There's a doorway in, but there is no emergency exit. You go in, but never, ever come out. I got a small taste of that heat, when my home burned in the middle of the night almost 7 years ago. I had to run through a wall of flame to escape. Less than a second to burst through yet it was an instant of unbearable agony. Just an instant, Yet it left me with 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 45% of my body. And in pain that is indescribable. From just a moment in the flames. I cannot begin to imagine the torture of eternity in flames. I definitely do not want to experience it and I don't want anyone else to either. Yet so many seem determined to bust Hell wide open. They say they will party with the devil when they get there and tell each other to save them a spot. Trust me, everyone who goes there will have a spot and it won't be on a dance floor. It will be in a pit, all alone, in agony. Not too much of a party in my opinion. I think I will pass. I prefer an eternity spent in peace, joy and love with not a flame in sight! Jesus offers us the free pass into paradise if we simply accept it and believe. What is so hard about that? I am so thankful that I accepted it a long time ago. It is my fervent prayer that everyone else does too before it is forever and unchangeably too late. Hope you have a blessed day, and don't forget to "beat the heat"!
